Introduction

This website contains work that was completed by students enrolled in the American Studies course “Gatekeeping Nations: The Politics of Migration Control in the United States and Europe,” which took place at the University of Klagenfurt during the summer 2019 term, and was taught by Professor Andrew Urban, a Fulbright Fellow from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

The site is divided into three sections, accessible from the menu on this page, which feature a student-curated online exhibition on Displaced Persons in Austria from 1945-1947, as well as two assignments that address firsthand accounts of migration and how migration is covered by the media.
